1. Introduction

Instabites (“we,” “our,” “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using Instabites, you agree to the terms below.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account & Identifiers

  • Account Signup/Login: We support email-based signup and third-party authentication (e.g. “Sign in with Google,” “Sign in with Apple”). We collect your email address or the unique identifier provided by the third-party provider.
  • Device Platform: We detect your operating system (iOS or Android) on the front end for feature compatibility. We do not store device IDs (IDFA, hardware IDs) or IP addresses.

2.2 User-Submitted Content

  • Post URLs: When you paste or share a social-media post URL, we save the URL and fetch metadata (author, summary, platform, topic). We do not treat that metadata as personal data.
  • Other Content: You do not submit any other text (notes, comments, etc.).

2.3 Location Data

With your permission, we access your current GPS coordinates only to center our in-app map view. We do not store or share your precise location beyond that session usage.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide & Improve Instabites Features: To manage your account, display your saved links, and show extracted locations on a map.
  • Technical Compatibility: To detect device platform (iOS vs. Android) for proper functionality.
  • Map Centering: To center the map on your current position (with your consent).

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data. We only share your email, URLs, metadata, and location-permissioned coordinates with our own backend services. We do not pass your data to any other third parties.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Retention: We retain your account data (email, saved URLs, extracted locations) indefinitely—until you choose to delete your account.
  • Deletion: You can request full account deletion at any time via the app’s account settings or by emailing us (see Section 8). Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed from our systems.

6. Security

We employ industry-standard measures (TLS in transit, encrypted credentials in storage) to protect your data. However, no system is perfectly secure—use strong, unique passwords and keep your device secure.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll post the new “Last updated” date at the top and highlight material changes in-app or via email.
